Living systematic reviews (LSRs) are a new approach to conducting systematic reviews that allow for real-time updates to be made as new evidence becomes available.A recent study published in BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine highlights the benefits and challenges of LSRs and emphasizes the importance of adopting this approach in healthcare research.

This report illustrates our contribution to producing and disseminating systematic reviews of healthcare interventions. These reviews are a powerful tool to enhance healthcare knowledge and decision-making. Since 2018, Cochrane Anaesthesia, and Cochrane Emergency and Critical Care are two separate Groups working closely together.

Our Review 'Peripheral nerve blocks for hip fractures in adults' was recently updated. This update incorporated 18 new trials. It also implemented the new Risk of bias 2 tool.

We are very pleased to announce the publication of a new network meta-analysis several years in the making (see: Featured Review: Drugs for preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting in adults after general anaesthesia: a network meta-analysis).
